Clinical Psychologist (B(Psych), MA(ClinPsych)
I am a Clinical Psychologist with a specialisation in psychotherapy, personal development, mental health and disability having 17 years of experience in the field of psychology. I have extensive experience working mainly with adults providing psychological services in English and Romanian.
I work from a compassionate and strengths-based approach. I am using a holistic approach by integrating a wide range of evidence-based psychotherapy approaches from therapies focussed on symptom reduction such as the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and the Dialetical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to insight-focused psychotherapies such as the experiential psychotherapy, to respond to your individual needs and preferences and depending on where you are at on your personal development or mental health recovery journey. The experiential psychotherapy is a humanistic approach that takes into account the conscious and unconscious values, beliefs, perceptions and blockages using a wide range of creative techniques to facilitate a person’s insight and safe externalisation of internal conflicts.
I use a bio-psycho-social and spiritual framework. Depending on your difficulties, we may explore together, individual, familial, transgenerational and cultural factors that may play an important role in understanding your current challenges.
I believe that creating a genuine, trusting and accepting therapeutic relationship is the key to catalysing your inner resources and consistently engage in your personal growth and development and ultimately having healthier relationships with yourself and others.
I have experience in providing psychological support for a wide range of emotional difficulties from managing stress, emotional-regulation, attachment, issues with self-confidence, academic performance, improving physical and emotional wellbeing, to family and couple issues, parenting difficulties, life crises, complex mental health problems and addictions as often a person experiences concurrently an array of interconnected difficulties.
I have a special interest in understanding psychological trauma, knowing that every person will be touched by it in some way and given the exciting new research in the neurobiology of trauma and the pathways to recovery. I also have a passion for working with people from all cultures, including mainstream, culturally and linguistically diverse populations and Aboriginal and Torres Straight Island peoples with a curious, inclusive, respectful and humble approach towards all cultures.
I have been working in the government and in private practice, in a range of settings including Adult Mental Health, Disability and dual diagnosis.
