Lisa Tanconi

I am a Registered Psychologist and an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society. I have over 10 years of experience providing evidence-based treatment and assessment for children, adolescents and adults. I have worked in a range of clinical settings such as schools, mental health services and non-government organisations.
I have extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, grief and loss, self-esteem, and life transitions. I also have a particular interest in supporting individuals to recover from eating disorders and body image issues through the discovery of self compassion, food freedom and body appreciation.
Working within a trauma informed framework, I listen with compassion and care and understand that fear and hope can exist at the same time. I am focused on supporting people navigate their emotional worlds, communicate needs, set boundaries and learn to be their best selves.
I adopt a person centred, strengths based and collaborative approach to therapy to empower my clients to reach their recovery goals in a safe and supportive space.
I tailor treatment to each individual client and I am skilled in the application of a range of evidence based psychological therapies including Cognitive Behaviour therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Mindfulness. I practice from a non dieting framework and support the Health at Every Size (HAES) approach.
I am passionate about seeing people grow and thrive in their mental health journey. I take a warm and compassionate approach in my work and I am dedicated to helping all clients understand their worth as individuals and equipping them with the tools to work through life challenges.
